The long version of the rules of here (this is the LJ link from the banner), but the short version is as follows:

* You sign up with fandom(s) you're willing to write in and fandom(s) you'd like to receive - the two lists don't have to be identical and can be as long or as short as you'd like.
* You are matched with a recipient based on at least one fandom
* You need to write three ficlets of 300-1000 words each and prepare/find three graphics (people routinely use clipart and screen caps here - not an art challenge)
* Somebody else will be doing the same for you
* This year's schedule is ~20da for writing

The matching is on fandom, not on characters or prompts. (Dear Author letters are allowed but not encouraged.) The ficlets need to focus on characters who are either female, Jewish or persecuted by evil viziers. (Creative interpretation of "evil viziers" happens.) With CM, this usually means female characters.
